Job Description

Role Overview:
Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services is seeking Direct Care Staff/Youth Development Counselors to support youth development activities in our residential group homes. Under the direction of the YDC Supervisor or Program Director, Youth Development Counselors will be tasked with specific duties aimed at fostering the growth and development of the children in our care.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provide constant supervision, protection, and care to youth individually and in groups while ensuring their personal rights and safety within a trauma-informed framework.
  • Collaborate as part of a treatment team to help youth develop social, vocational, educational, hygiene, and other essential life skills.
  • Work alongside the VDM team to plan and implement various activities for the youth.
  • Utilize relationship-based treatment, strength-based approaches, and trauma-informed, culturally/LGBTQ-sensitive practices in working with youth, administering appropriate interventions, and setting behavioral limits.
  • Responsible for agency vehicles, including maintaining logs for signing in and out.
  • Participate in and/or lead cottage group meetings and document discussions. 

Qualifications

What You Bring to VDM:

  • BA required.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience working with adolescents in a residential treatment facility.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and good driving record.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (fully vaccinated with booster).

Additional Information

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
